“Moon woke me up
— still just 4 a.m.”
A bright moon on a clear, cold night – the promise of winter creeping up around the next bend. Here and there, snowflakes fly, houses are shuttered and lit from inside, keeping in the warmth and out the chill. Late autumn has come again and everything has slowed. Some mornings, a fine, feathery frost coats the world as far as the eye can see, glistening in the weakening light of a sharply angled sun.
Simone Kearney is presently working on a few projects – one is a project she has been developing over time titled Song of Amergin. The series of paintings is based on what is said to be the work of the first Irish poet. Kearney’s first response to the poetry was to create a series of paintings. Then drew from the concept of the wind on the sea, using acrylic and dye on muslin to create the works. To hear more about this series, about the mythological history of Ireland and Kearney’s other work, including how she relates poetry to prisms, listen to the complete interview.
Perdita Finn spoke to us on the publication date of her book The Way of the Rose: the Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary. The big picture of Finn’s work is the healing of the planet. Finn herself was raised without religion and came to the Rosary through a rather circuitous route quite outside of traditional religious roots. Her story is in part rooted in the experience of being a young mother on a plane with her small children when the plane nearly crashed. After this, she could not shake the feeling of relentless descent and this tapped into a feeling of a more figurative descent in the world. To hear more about Finn’s journey to the Rosary, and much more about her found spirituality and the miracles around us, listen to the complete interview.
A Few Words to Keep in your Pocket:
Hunker down, friends. The cold months are come and we must all find warmth together.
