An art advisor with more than 25 years in the industry, Todd Levin has worked with some of the world’s foremost art collectors as the director of Levin Art Group, both buying and selling blue-chip and emerging work on their behalf. Known for his curatorial eye and tough-minded expertise, Levin has helped build in-depth collections that are successful both financially and in terms of scholarship. A glimpse of his approach could be seen at Spruth Magers Gallery in London, where he recently organized “THE VIVISECTOR,” an exhibition contextualizing Cindy Sherman’s mannequin and doll-related photographs with works by Morton Bartlett, Georges Bataille, Hans Bellmer, Bruce Nauman, Fredrick Sommer, and Tribal sculpture. This past December 2013, he was seen at Art Basel in Miami walking the aisles with Leonardo DiCaprio. In this interview he discusses his world of art advisory and the culture of the art world from that perspective.
