Rob Garrett (MA, BFA) is a New Zealand-born independent curator based in Sopot, Poland. He is currently Curator of “SCAPE 8: New Intimacies” Public Art Christchurch Biennial in the post-earthquake city of Christchurch in New Zealand; and curator of the not-for-profit project space CORNER Window Gallery on Auckland’s famous Karangahape Road.
Recent curatorial projects include “Unearthing Delights” the 5th edition of Narracje public art festival (2013, GdaÅ„sk, Poland); the NZ-Australian programme for the inaugural Ängelholm International Video Art festival (2012, Sweden); and an international exhibition at the not-for-profit artist-run gallery Snake Pit (2012, Auckland, New Zealand). He also developed Auckland’s recent public art policy and a 10-year public art plan for Hamilton. He was formerly a senior manager and Council Member of New Zealand’s Arts Council, Creative New Zealand and Head of New Zealand’s oldest art academy in Dunedin.
