Mia Nielsen

2015headshot_smMia Nielsen is Head of Cultural Programming for Drake Hotel Properties, overseeing art exhibits, cultural programming, residencies and partnerships for the brand’s properties, including The Drake Hotel, Toronto’s hotbed for culture; the Martin Brudnizki designed Drake One Fifty, a stand-alone restaurant in Toronto’s Financial District, and Drake Devonshire Inn in Prince Edward County, Canada’s newest wine region.

Nielsen focuses on contemporary Canadian and international artists, and has worked with some of the best and brightest in the art world today, including Olaf Breuning, Peaches, Atom Egoyan, Ryan Trecartin, Cloe Wise and many others. Prior to joining The Drake, Nielsen was founder and director of Quiver Projects, an online gallery representing artists in Canada, the US and Europe, and an Associate Dealer for Sothebys.com. She was also an assistant at the acclaimed Odon Wagner Gallery in Toronto, specializing in historic Canadian and European paintings. Nielsen has curated shows in Canada, the US and Denmark and consulted on the art collection for the Royal Danish Consulate in Toronto. She holds a BFA in Photography and New Media from York University.
