Rachel Cook

rachel_2Rachel Cook is Associate Curator at DiverseWorks in Houston. Her curatorial work reconsiders the relationship between images and objects, and investigates methods of delegation embedded within performative and participatory work. While at DiverseWorks, she has helped to organize commissioned projects with Tony Feher, Liz Magic Laser, Heather and Ivan Morison, Wu Tsang, Pepe Mar, and Chelsea Knight and Mark Tribe. Recently, she curated two archival-based exhibitions The Eleventh Hour(2013) and SonicWorks (2014). Both examined histories within the organization including the legacy of urgency, performance-based practices, and re-staged experimental sound-based works. Her writing has appeared in a number of art journals and catalogues, including Modern Painters, Flash Art, and the upcoming Prospect 3 catalogue. Prior to joining DiverseWorks, Cook worked for dOCUMENTA(13)’s publication team, and was a fellow for the International Studio & Curatorial Program, New York. Cook holds a Masters from the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College and Bachelors from the San Francisco Art Institute. Currently, she is working on an exhibition about choreography, movement, and sound, while considering the concept of time as activism.
