Adair uses\u00a0performance as her methodology. She produces work via inhabiting particular roles and\/or institutions.\u00a0She is the author of\u00a0<i>From\u00a0JBAD: Lessons Learned<\/i>\u00a0(Les Figues Press) based on her time as \u201cembedded media\u201d with US Forces in Afghanistan and for which she has created the feature-length video-performance work\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/danielleadair.com\/first-assignment\"><span class=\"s2\"><i>FIRST\u00a0ASSIGNMENT<\/i><\/span><\/a>. Her work\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/danielleadair.com\/and-i-think-i-like-it-comp\"><span class=\"s2\"><i>And I Think I Like It.<\/i><\/span><\/a>, a collection of 13 video-song-poems with associated artist book (Edition Solitude) examines an experience of \u201cartist\u201d within the US presidential election years of 2011-13. Her painting and video installation\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/danielleadair.com\/on-the-rocks-in-the-land\"><span class=\"s2\"><i>On the Rocks, In the Land<\/i><\/span><\/a>\u00a0(Pitzer College Art\u00a0Galleries), and accompanying artist zine with curator Ciara Ennis, analyzes the role of \u201ctourist\u201d in known walled conflict zones,\u00a0having spent time in Belfast, Ciudad Ju\u00e1rez, Ramallah, and other areas. In 2014 Adair\u00a0created and premiered the experimental opera\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/danielleadair.com\/images\/424.jpg\"><span class=\"s2\"><i>Caution Baum<\/i><\/span><\/a>\u00a0with the Staatliche Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart as part of her ongoing project\u00a0<i>Caution bomb<\/i>.\u00a0Danielle is concurrently working on a nonfiction book that takes as bookends her projects, beginning in 2008 with\u00a0<i>FIRST ASSIGNMENT<\/i>\u00a0through to\u00a0<i>Caution bomb<\/i>, which in its final iteration incorporates\u00a0documentation\u00a0collected from her time at both the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention, July 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Adair is a California Community Foundation Visual Arts Fellow, a Center for Cultural Innovation \u2013\u00a0ARC\u00a0grantee, a recipient of The Louis Sudler Prize in the Performing and Creative Arts, as well as a former Fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart, Germany), Salem2Salem (Bodensee, Germany), Digital Arts Studios (Belfast, Northern Ireland), and I-Park Foundation (East Haddam, Connecticut).
