The gallery program explores questions in the fields of conceptual and curatorial practice and collaborates with curators or ‘curartists’ in specific exhibition projects. The gallery’s objective is to provide a platform and initiate a discourse, talks and new forms of exhibition. The kitchen (the gallery space used to be a tobacco store with adjoining apartment) serves as project space within the exhibition space: It has hosted a kitchen specific sound installation by Justin Bennett, and has been turned into a sports bar to set the stage for the video ‘Live from the Aquarium’ by Dina Danish. In 2012 it hosted a ‘performative installation’ by Ante Timmermans which stated one of the initial points for the artist’s presentation at Manifesta 9 in Genk, BE and his solo exhibition ‘Ante Post Ante’ at Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, CH. With its new satellite project SPUTNIK, as well as with the current exhibition ‘This is the house that Jack built’ in an old empty townhouse in Zurich, Barbara Seiler Gallery breaches out of its accustomed gallery space to raise questions about current exhibition practice and site specificity.

http://museumofnonvisibleart.com/interview/barbaraseiler.mp3Subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | TuneIn | RSS | Click here to join mailing listBarbara Seiler Gallery represents, promotes and supports young, international artists who work with different media including sound installations and performance.
