He studied at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lboro.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Loughborough University School<\/a> of the Arts\u00a0and at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.accademiadibrera.milano.it\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brera Academy of Fine Arts <\/a>\u00a0where he obtained a BA in Theater Design and a MA in Curating.<\/p>\n<p>He has been Managing Editor of\u00a0<em>Flash Art International,<\/em> Senior\u00a0Editor of\u00a0<em>Contemporary<\/em>, and is\u00a0currently the <a href=\"http:\/\/moussemagazine.it\/\" target=\"_blank\">London Editor of <em>Mousse<\/em> <\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.resartworld.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chief Editor of <em>RES <\/em><\/a>, contributing frequently to those publications as well as\u00a0<em>Art in America, Art Pulse, Camera Austria, Domus, Kunst Bulletin, Interview, Manifesta Journal, Moscow Art Magazine<\/em> and <em>Sight &amp; Sound<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2012, he is the Commissioning Editor of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phaidon.com\/store\/art\/contemporary-artists\/?page=all&amp;page=all)&amp;page=all&amp;page=all\" target=\"_blank\">Phaidon Press&#8217; Contemporary Artists Series<\/a>, where he edited monographs on artists such as Marina Abramovic, Pawel\u00a0Althamer,\u00a0Francis Al\u00ffs, Ai Weiwei, Monica Bonvicini, Marlene Dumas, Chris Johanson, Alex Katz, Theaster Gates, Jorge Pardo, Wilhelm Sasnal, Stephen Shore, Simon Starling, Wolfgang Tilllmans, Jeff Wall, Yin Xiuzhen and Zhang Huan.<\/p>\n<p>He is the author, together with Francesca Bonazzoli, of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.randomhouse.de\/paperback\/Mona-Lisa-to-Marge-How-the-World-s-Greatest-Artworks-Entered-Popular-Culture\/Francesca-Bonazzoli\/e444822.rhd?pub=58500\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Mona Lisa to Marge: How the World&#8217;s Greatest Artworks Entered Popular Culture<\/em>\u00a0(Prestel, 2014)<\/a>, and a monograph on the work of Sarah Lucas\u00a0(Electa Mondadori, 2006). Recent publications featuring his writings include <em>Moving Image<\/em> (Whitechapel Art Gallery, 2015),\u00a0<em>Vitamin D2: Different Perspectives on Drawing <\/em>(Phaidon, 2013), and <em>Theories and Documents on Contemporary Art<\/em> (University of California Press, 2012).<\/p>\n<p>He has lectured at the Akademie der Bildenden K\u00fcnste in Vienna, the Bezalel Academy of Fine Art in Tel Aviv, the Durham University, the Ecole National des Beaux Arts in Grenoble, the Kingston University, the Metropolitan University and the Royal Art College in London, and\u00a0the University of Art in Newcastle.
