Following her studies in the visual arts at the Talleres Art\u00edsticos of the Universidad de los Andes in Bogot\u00e1 from 1984 to 1989, Calle received a British Council scholarship in 1992 to earn a master\u2019s degree at the Chelsea College of Art and Design in London. Her work draws on a range of archival and deciphering techniques, often associated with everyday life, to address the violence of recent Colombian history and evoke the victims of forced disappearances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Johanna Calle has been honored with numerous prestigious awards, including major prizes and honorary recognitions in Colombian art salons (1996\u20132003), a fellowship at the Cit\u00e9 Internationale des Arts in Paris (2001), and international grants and residencies in Europe and the United States (2008\u20132013).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">She has been included in international biennials such as the <span class=\"s1\">Sydney Biennale<\/span> (2016), the <span class=\"s1\">S\u00e3o Paulo Biennial<\/span> (2014), <span class=\"s1\">SITE Santa Fe<\/span> (2014), and the <span class=\"s1\">Istanbul Biennial<\/span> (2014).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Selected exhibitions include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsandcgallery.com\/exhibitions\/johanna-calle2\">Arquitecturas, Bienvenu Steinberg &amp;
