She received\u00a0a BA from\u00a0Hampshire College,\u00a0MA. Recent exhibitions include\u00a0Taymour Grahne, London,\u00a0Myriam Chair\u00a0Galerie, Paris; and\u00a0Monya Rowe Gallery, NY. In 2024, her work was\u00a0included in the group exhibition \u201cGilded:\u00a0Contemporary Artists Explore Value and Worth\u201d at the\u00a0Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, NC,\u00a0which\u00a0traveled to the\u00a0Hunter Museum of American Art, Chattanooga, TN and the\u00a0Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth,\u00a0Hanover, NH. Bates\u2019 work is\u00a0in the permanent collection of the\u00a0Hood Museum of Art. Exhibitions have been\u00a0reviewed in\u00a0The New York Times,\u00a0The New Yorker,\u00a0Artforum,\u00a0among many others.
