For\u00a0<em>Vida<\/em>, Patricia was the first woman to be awarded Colombia\u2019s national prize in literature, the 2017 Premio Biblioteca de Narrativa Colombiana.<\/p>\n<p>She has been awarded fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, Bread Loaf Writers\u2019 Conference, Hedgebrook, and Key West Literary Seminar among others, and is the recipient of an O. Henry Award.<\/p>\n<p>Patricia\u2019s books have been translated into many languages. Her short fiction has appeared in\u00a0<em>The Atlantic<\/em>,\u00a0<em>A Public Space<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Ploughshares<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Sun,<\/em>\u00a0<em>Kenyon Review<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Harvard Review<\/em>, and anthologized in\u00a0<em>The Best American Short Stories<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Best American Mystery Stories,<\/em>\u00a0<em>The O. Henry Prize Stories<\/em>, and elsewhere. Her criticism and essays have appeared in\u00a0<em>The New York Times,<\/em>\u00a0<em>Virginia Quarterly<\/em>\u00a0<em>Review<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Catapult,<\/em>\u00a0and in numerous anthologies.<\/p>\n<p>Born to Colombian parents, Patricia is a graduate of New York University and earned her MFA at Florida International University.
