Her other books include\u00a0The Veins of the Ocean<\/em>, which won the Dayton Literary Peace Prize and was named a\u00a0New York Times<\/em>\u00a0Editors\u2019 Choice and a\u00a0San Francisco Chronicle<\/em>\u00a0Best Book of the Year;\u00a0It\u2019s Not Love, It\u2019s Just Paris<\/em>, which won the International Latino Book Award, and of\u00a0Vida<\/em>, a finalist for the PEN\/Hemingway Fiction Award and the Young Lions Fiction Award; winner of a Florida Book Award, International Latino Book Award and Independent Publisher Book Award, longlisted for the Story Prize and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize, and named a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection and a\u00a0New York Times<\/em>\u00a0Notable Book of the Year. For\u00a0Vida<\/em>, Patricia was the first woman to be awarded Colombia\u2019s national prize in literature, the 2017 Premio Biblioteca de Narrativa Colombiana.<\/p>\n

She has been awarded fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, Bread Loaf Writers\u2019 Conference, Hedgebrook, and Key West Literary Seminar among others, and is the recipient of an O. Henry Award.<\/p>\n

Patricia\u2019s books have been translated into many languages. Her short fiction has appeared in\u00a0The Atlantic<\/em>,\u00a0A Public Space<\/em>,\u00a0Ploughshares<\/em>,\u00a0The Sun,<\/em>\u00a0Kenyon Review<\/em>,\u00a0Harvard Review<\/em>, and anthologized in\u00a0The Best American Short Stories<\/em>,\u00a0The Best American Mystery Stories,<\/em>\u00a0The O. Henry Prize Stories<\/em>, and elsewhere. Her criticism and essays have appeared in\u00a0The New York Times,<\/em>\u00a0Virginia Quarterly<\/em>\u00a0Review<\/em>,\u00a0Catapult,<\/em>\u00a0and in numerous anthologies.<\/p>\n

Born to Colombian parents, Patricia is a graduate of New York University and earned her MFA at Florida International University. She is an Associate Professor in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Miami.<\/p>\n
