who has lived and worked in New York for many years.\u00a0 He started out reading his poems and performing monologues at the Pyramid night club in the early 1980\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>This is his third interview with Brainard Carey in this series.<\/p>\n<p>From 1988 to 2001 he wrote and staged a series of autobiographical plays \u2013 premiering a new play almost every year in the Club at LaMama on east 4th Street.<\/p>\n<p>Titles include\u00a0<i>The Seven Year Vacation, The Ghost of Brooklyn, Mosquito Succulence, Motel Blue 19,\u00a0<\/i>and\u00a0<i>The Drowning Pages.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>In recent years he has written and performed a series of one man shows that have won much critical acclaim.<\/div>\n<div>These shows include\u00a0<i>Helen and Edgar<\/i>\u00a0\u2013 directed by Catharine Burns of The Moth \u2013 and\u00a0<i>East 10th Street: self-portrait with empty house, In the Park,\u00a0<\/i>and<i>\u00a0Attorney Street<\/i>\u00a0\u2013 all three directed by Randy Sharp of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.axiscompany.org\/\">Axis Theatre Company<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The images below are book covers and spreads from the
