The world around us begins, ever so slightly, to slow. But first and foremost, it is a time of harvest. The work of summer can finally be reaped. In days gone by, it was the time when communities would set their stores for winter, hoping for a bountiful reward for their toil. The phrase \u201cyou reap what you sow\u201d comes to mind. This is an apt analogy in many ways for an art career. The work you put in tends to equal the amount you get out. Here are some opportunities to perhaps sow future harvest.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/city.milwaukee.gov\/DCD\/Projects\/RFPs\/Vel-Phillips-Plaza-RFQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The City of Milwaukee<\/a> invites artists to apply for a commissioned public art project. In their own words:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>In recognition of one of the country\u2019s leading Black woman jurists, politicians, and civil rights leaders, the City of Milwaukee is proudly working to\u00a0transform\u00a0a surface parking lot into an activated social space named after Milwaukee\u2019s own traiblazer, Vel R. Phillips.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Plaza will feature original art work honoring Vel R. Phillips. The final art work will serve as a creative representation of Vel R. Phillips\u2019 work in breaking down social and cultural barriers for women, and women of color, in Wisconsin and around the United States.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Vel R.
