As a career artist, while there may be some elements of spontaneity, it is important to have some idea where you\u2019re going. The romance of art is, of course, in part, its unpredictability, but when the business is\u00a0<em>you<\/em>, there must be some guardrails. Here are a few opportunities to set you in the right direction as you move onward and upward.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sodas2123.lt\/en\/opencall-walking-symposium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vilnius Academy of Arts, the cultural centre SODAS 2123 and the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists\u2019 Association (LTMKS)<\/a> invite artists to apply for participation in their artistic and research symposium,\u00a0<em>Walking is Still Honest<\/em>. They describe the meaning behind this in their own words:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The current ecological and migration crises, the post-pandemic situation and new forms of virtual coexistence, growing cities and new urban planning solutions, which change our daily trajectories or restrict natural human movement altogether \u2013 all this sets the context for the growing artistic and scholarly interest in walking and its meaning in our lives, communities and societies.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information and to apply, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/sodas2123.lt\/en\/opencall-walking-symposium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>. Eight artists are chosen to live and work for one to three months at a time, taking a break from the daily pressures of life to focus on dedicated time, space, resources and community in furtherance of their craft. Ultimately, the intention is to spark productive conversations, nurture collaboration and create new experiences through art.
