\"\"Bishakh<\/a> is an Indian-American trans femme visual artist and author. Her work has appeared in\u00a0<\/span>The New Yorker<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>We’re Still Here<\/span>\u00a0(The first all-trans comics anthology),\u00a0<\/span>Beyond, vol. 2, The Strumpet, The Boston Review, Black Warrior Review, VICE, The Brooklyn Rail, Buzzfeed, Ink Brick, The Huffington Post, The Graphic Canon vol. 3\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream<\/span>. She received the Xeric grant in 2003 for her comics collection\u00a0<\/span>Angel<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/div>\n
Her graphic novel\u00a0<\/span>Apsara Engine<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>(The Feminist Press) is the winner of a 2021 L.A. Times Book Prize for Best Graphic Novel and a 2021 Lambda Literary Award winner for Best LGBTQ Comics. Her graphic memoir\u00a0<\/span>Spellbound<\/a><\/span>\u00a0(Street Noise Books) was also a 2021 Lambda Literary Award finalist.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Bishakh<\/span>\u00a0has illustrated two books about architecture:\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The Prefab Bathroom: An Architectural History<\/span>, (McFarland Press) and\u00a0<\/span>Cocktails and Conversations: Dialogues on Architectural Design (<\/span>AIA New York).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Bishakh\u2019s\u202fartwork was featured in solo shows at\u00a0<\/span>ArtLexis<\/span>\u00a0Gallery and at Jaya Yoga Center and in group shows at The Society of Illustrators in New York, the Bannister Gallery at Rhode Island College,\u00a0<\/span>Issyra<\/span>\u00a0Gallery, the Grady Alexis Gallery, De\u00a0<\/span>Cacaofabriek<\/span>\u00a0in the Netherlands and most recently at Art Omi in Ghent, NY.<\/span><\/span> \u00a0<\/span>You can see her work at\u00a0<\/span>www.bishakh.com<\/span><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
