Chris Wilder

After attending San Francisco Art Institute and California Institute of the Arts, Chris Wilder has lived and worked in California for most of his career, with the exception of periods in Australia, Berlin and annual journeys to Indonesia, with the past 13 years based in Santa Monica.  He has consistently exhibited locally and internationally during the past 25 years and has taught across most disciplines in Fine Art during the past ~10 years of that time, including at UCLA, UCSD and for the past 8 years at Otis College of Art and Design.

Wilder’s recent work has employed painting, collage, sculpture, scanners and digital media, sound, video, installation and photography referring to island travel, maps, underwater landscapes, UFO phenomenology and mediated imagery and information to explore themes of loss, escape, mythology, and the tensions between truth and belief.
